Bio
Luca Padroni is a contemporary Italian artist known for his large scale works in which fields of color form different architectural spaces. The starting point in his work are drawings and small scale studies in oil which evolve in monumental paintings. Powerful and ambiguous, his paintings embrace the observer as an integral part of the image. The formal composition of his pictures depicts a vigorous sense of motion, through the creation of unrealistic and impossible architecture of spaces, he reveals his fascinating perception of the surrounding world. Having spent most of his childhood and adolescence in various African countries, including South Africa, the artist has developed a special fascination for nature and the animal world now under threat more than ever before. The latest Jungle series is an attempt from the artist to communicate and remember where we come from, our ancestor’s identity, our indissoluble bond to nature. Padroni has taken part in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Italy and abroad. Among those recently held at Public Institutions: La vita continua, Museo Orto Botanico, Rome (2022); Le altre opere, Galleria Comunale d’Arte Moderna, curated by Lucilla Catania and Daniela Perego, Roma (2021); Summer Exhibition, curated by di Timothy Hyman, Royal Academy, London (2019); Scorribanda, curated by Fabio Sargentini, Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, Rome (2018); I Valori Personali, curated by Claudio Crescentini, Pad. 9b Macro Testaccio, Rome (2017).
